The doctor said it appears Shangang has a small hole in his heart, connecting his left and right ventricles. It doesn't seem to be a major problem - his blood test numbers looked good, and he seems okay in terms of physical development. It also doesn't appear to have any great effect on his activity level.
She was going to send the information to a pulmonary specialist to get an additional opinion from someone with more knowledge about heart issues.
Hopefully it won't turn out to be something that requires surgery...

Referral!
We've gotten a referral for a little boy. His name is Shu Shangang. We don't have the actual Chinese characters yet, so I don't know for sure what the name means. From the referral, it appears that the "Shu" is the Chinese character for mouse or rat. It was the Year of the Rat when he was brought into the orphanage (2008).
He's three years old, and has some kind of congenital heart defect. We will know more after we take the paperwork we have to the doctor on Thursday.
